Kailua may be regarded as a world famous water-sports destination prized for its award-winning beaches. But what’s most remarkable about Kailua is its residents. With more than 10,000 attendees at the last event, no other Oahu town pulls together for a cause quite like Kailua does! Celebrate the best of Kailua’s food, fun and spirit at this October street festival and wellness fair at the Kailua Whole Foods Parking Lot. The October festivities include a variety of great food, exciting local entertainment including Kapena and Irie Love, carnival rides, a dunking booth, giveaways & more!
Proceeds will benefit the non-profit The Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii Windward Clubhouse and Castle Medical Center’s Oncology Clinic. The Boys & Girls Club of Hawaii (BGCH) is a non-profit organization dedicated to inspiring Hawaii’s youth to become responsible citizens. Proceeds from this event will go directly toward the development of the BCGH Windward Clubhouse. Known as “The Positive Place for Kids,” BGCH clubhouses and outreach sites provide guidance-oriented character development programs six days a week for children 7-17 years old. Castle’s Oncology Unit provides a variety of outpatient services for patients battling cancer. Its approach to health and healing is patient-centered care and a comprehensive approach to wellness that tends to physical and emotional needs.
Born and raised in Kailua, event innovator Danielle Scherman launched the first Cool Kailua Nights in 2006, in support of her mother who was diagnosed with breast cancer. The block party has evolved and now raises funds for both Castle Medical Center’s Chemotherapy Clinic as well as the Boys & Girls Club of Kailua. Danielle is the volunteer creator and director of Cool Kailua Nights.
